Hotel and commerce | H. Vaz Pato e Pedro Quintas Arquitectos
Nowadays it is the Lx Boutique Hotel, located in the historic triangle Chiado, Baixa and Cais do Sodré, with themed rooms and unique views over Lisbon and the Tagus River.
The building was remodeled with a view to preserving all the elements that were in good or reasonable condition. Occupancy was defined as accommodation (65%) and commerce (35%). The 5 commercial fractions at the level of -1.0, sobreloja and 1 were maintained, as well as the fraction intended for accommodation that already occupied floor 1 to the 6th floor, all with independent access. Special attention was given to the demolition of the annexes built in the backyard, correction of the disarticulated spans with the geometry on the back façade, without altering the height of the building.
Due to the poor state of conservation and the most recent incorrect interventions in the floors of Floors 6 and 7, the wooden structures were renovated to improve the living conditions of these spaces. The roof was rehabilitated, the roof / façade trim was preserved as well as the main stair case.
The outer spans, in wood, were replaced looking for the original dimensioning and geometries.
At the chromatic level, the gray enamel finish (intermediate bluish hue) gives the building a visual highlight in one of the most charismatic areas of the city.
