A MOAGEM INDUSTRIAL LODGE . 17 rooms
The past linked to cereal milling is now reinterpreted in a contemporary hospitality project that combines architecture, memory and comfort with a refined aesthetic sense. In an environment marked by informality and authenticity, each guest is welcomed as a member of the family, in a natural gesture of those who make the art of hospitality an extension of everyday life.
Opened in 1949, after a fire destroyed the previous mill, the building belonged to the Vasques Fadista family and combined flour milling with an olive oil press. For decades, it was a point of reference for production and society in Viana.
More than just a recovery of the existing structure, this is a project that respects the essence of the place, integrating industrial elements with a refined language. A Moagem is a place where you can experience the silence of the Alentejo with sophistication and authenticity. Located just 30 minutes from Évora and 40 minutes from Alqueva, the hotel invites you to explore the deep Alentejo without losing access to its most emblematic cultural and natural landmarks.
Moagem has 17 rooms, all different from each other, but united by a coherent aesthetic and rigorous attention to detail. Each space was designed to provide an experience of comfort and sophistication, in total harmony with the identity of the building and the Sergipe landscape. The rooms are equipped with Hästens beds, heated floors, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and an interactive communication system that provides access to services, experiences and content about the building and its industrial past.
Moagem’s gastronomic proposal is an extension of its identity. In the heart of the kitchen stands a monumental seven-meter-high chimney, a scenic and functional piece around which all the action unfolds. It is also around the fire, in the kitchen itself, that customers sit to share their meal, in an intimate and engaging atmosphere. Here, fire is not just a resource, but the essence of this space.
Moagem proposes an approach to well-being anchored in discretion, silence and contemplation. An indoor heated pool with a hydrothermal circuit occupies one of the most private wings of the building. Outside, a solarium with contemporary furniture allows moments of tranquility and rest in the serenity of the Alentejo. A sauna, a Turkish bath and a massage room complete the unit’s well-being proposal.
From the beginning, the project has incorporated sustainable solutions, such as photovoltaic panels, rainwater reuse, heat pumps, efficient thermal insulation and responsible waste management. This approach reflects an idea of sustainability that goes beyond energy efficiency. It is assumed as a form of respect for the environment, the surrounding landscape and the local community.
