In Viana do Alentejo, at Rua do Lagar Novo, nº 3, a building that was once central to the local economy, the Moinhos de Santo António, is given a new lease of life with the opening of the Moagem – Industrial Lodge hotel. The past linked to cereal milling is now reinterpreted in a contemporary hospitality project that combines architecture, memory and comfort with a refined aesthetic sense.
The building has maintained its original structure and much of the industrial equipment has been integrated into the current design. The architectural intervention is signed by Gonçalo Queirós Carvalho, whose work has been standing out in projects for the rehabilitation and reconversion of buildings with heritage value, always with a restrained, functional and space-sensitive approach. The result is the industrial heritage, which becomes the protagonist, at the service of comfort and aesthetics.
The Moagem has 17 rooms, social areas for dining and well-being, including a heated indoor pool.
